Our wedding was held at the brand new hall of the newly renovated Holy Tree Sri Balasubramaniar Temple. We had a rather simple, traditional Malayalee wedding that ended before it even began! We immortalised the memories from our wedding through snippets of videos taken lovingly by our friends and family. We have a beautiful collection of photographs from the wedding that makes us wonder how in the world did we manage to pull it all off.
Looking at each other after the last group photo was taken and thinking, “We survived!”
Understanding and managing everyone’s expectations was harder than we thought it would be. Since we were also getting our home renovation done during the wedding planning process, juggling work, the wedding planning and that, felt like a Herculean task.
Letting go and allowing friends and family to take more control of the wedding really helped us to focus on the things that we wanted to prioritise.
We would have done well to communicate our intentions to our parents better and being more on top of the entire wedding planning process. That may have helped ease any tension that there might have been.
